Pictures from our electricity unit...first we experiment and then we build our own WORKING lighthouses. Below is a model of the Boca Grande Lighthouse. And yes, they even have their own off and on switches and electrical schematics! Who says FOURTH GRADERS aren't scientists?
High expectations yield high results!

Yes - it's a pie in the face! And, keeping with the Florida fashion, it's a Key Lime Pie! The students were performing their "Florida History Song" for parents and other grade levels using fact boards they had made. I thought it would be a fun way to surprise them...look at their faces! But, I do think Ms. Lauth enjoyed doing it just a little too much!!!

My class loves caring for our pets. We have 2 turtles and HUNDREDS of fish. The Angelfish above are one of our 4 sets of breeding fish. They lay eggs about once or twice per month and we raise the fish until they are big enough to go to student tanks at home!

Random views of our class...notice the Florida pirate theme...above, is the reading ship complete with its own crow's nest and pirate. Below are our class rules posted over my desk in the back of the room...Set Sail, with Captain Conley! Also, the student's jobs chart...I mean, the CREW's job chart!

Lastly, jumbo-sized ziplocs serve as a great storage for posters and materials. I keep my posters and window decorations sorted by months in these bags.
